Jolly Pirate Productions is a Los Angeles-based production and casting company with a bi-coastal presence. With a love of storytelling, a desire to root for the underdog, and a fascination with blockbuster magic, Jolly Pirate Productions focuses on projects that make the audience ponder, feel, and become energized. Particularly interested in female and other underrepresented voices, Jolly Pirate aims to create compelling, unexpected stories that explore the human experience. Jolly Pirate Productions represents freedom, adventure, and celebrates the rebellious, jolly wild child in all of us.

Who's steering the ship?

Founder Lauren Herrel (Producer/Casting Director) is utilizing her years of experience in casting and producing for both studio and independent productions to develop films and shows under her new banner. Lauren has worked for prolific filmmakers, including Ron Howard, Jon Favreau, Brian Grazer, and others, along with some of the top Casting Directors in the industry. She has worked with Lucasfilm, Disney, ABC, HBOMax, CBS, Sony, Paramount, Marvel, Voltage Pictures, etc. She has also cast and/or produced documentaries, commercials, music videos, branded content, PSAs, and consulted on productions. 

Lauren studied film along with earning degrees in International Business and Spanish from The University of North Carolina Wilmington. She has been a mentor for “Start With 8 Hollywood” via Women of Color Unite and is an ongoing volunteer for the Latiné arts advocacy organization, Nosotros. As an avid traveler and cultural enthusiast, she has lived in Spain and has worked on international projects from Mexico, Spain, and Canada to the UK and Venezuela. In her spare time, Lauren develops and supports educational and community programs, providing access to internships and other educational and job opportunities in the industry to collegiate and non-collegiate folks alike.

From starting her career working on both The Ellen DeGeneres Show and with Sarah Finn casting for Marvel movies while still in college, to starting her own company, Lauren has always focused on bringing her unique vision, warmth, never-ending work ethic, knowledge and skillset, as well as her childlike wonder to the job.  She's also obsessed with pirate history.
